Importance of A Properly Installed Staircase

Staircase

Staircases are almost always the most challenging element of any build, whether it is a loft conversion, basement renovation or simple mezzanine addition.

Current building regulations must always be adhered to in conjunction with supplying a successful design.

Building Regulations

The part of building regulations outlines the requirements for any staircase. Whether it is the rise and going of the staircase and what parameters this must comply with, to the width of the spindles from each other to where a handrail is required to where it is not. See: Australian Building Code.

All of the rules must be kept to whilst coming up with something that looks good and functions correctly.

Our Recent Work

Recently on a loft conversion project we completed in the Hove area around Poets corner, we fitted a staircase that gave our client the ability to have an opened gallery style area as well as a pocket door fire resistant to 30 minutes system. Please contact us for previous work.

This design was implemented because our client wanted to achieve a successful interaction between their first floor corridor and loft bedroom without feeling that the loft bedroom was too closed in by the use of a partitioned entrance way which would normally be required.

Instead we looked at implementing the fire door at the bottom of the staircase so that a more spacious feel could be achieved within the loft conversion area. The benefits.
